I walked 437 miles across Britain on stilts. That sentence still surprises me. It was 2013, and the walk followed the ancient Michael and Mary ley lines from Hopton on Sea in Norfolk to St Michael's Mount in Cornwall — 56 days, 89 stages, raising money for Shelter along the way.
The stilts weren't a gimmick. They were a way of being seen — of being unmistakably present in the landscape, of arriving at each village as something slightly strange and slightly sacred, and of trusting that the walk itself would hold whatever needed to happen.
It did. The book that came from it — The Stilted Pilgrim — is still being written. Some books take time to find their shape. This one has been finding its shape for a long time, and it is nearly ready.
I am a singer-songwriter too. There is an album — Symphony Of Man — that was made with care and released quietly, perhaps too quietly. It was made under the name Longspoon. It is available here now for download. More music is forming from the road.
The Road is real. There is a campervan. There is a route shaped by sacred sites, megaliths, ancient landscapes, and wherever there is music to be made and people to meet. This site is where that journey becomes visible — for whoever wants to follow it.
I am not looking to build a brand. I am looking to build a life on truer foundations — moving through the world with open hands, making work, sharing the journey, and finding where belonging might be.
If any of that calls to you, you are welcome here.
